New Holland Tractor

A New Holland Tractor is a fine piece of machinery, combining the expertise and design of both American and European Engineers. A New Holland tractor is also the result of more than 100 years of history and invention.

It all started way back in 1895, when a young man called Abram Zimmerman purchased a horse barn and turned it into a workshop. At first, Abram Zimmerman only fixed tractors that local farmers brought to him. One of the most common problems in farm tractors at that time, was that cooling was done through water, and this water was left in the engine at night, it’d freeze and crack the engine. Zimmerman developed an engine in which water that was left forgotten would expand on a bowl and not crack the engine.

With his new prototype engine ready, Zimmerman raised capital by selling shares to his neighbors. With this, he founded his company and named it The New Holland Machine Company, after the town where it was established, New Holland Pennsylvania. With this capital, he also bought a brick factory and transformed it into an engine factory.

In the factory, Zimmerman developed and sold 5 types of his engine, with the difference being primarily the level of power they had. The 5 HP engine was by far the company’s best product and it made the company earn profits year after year. Soon, a tractor that had such an engine was known as a New Holland tractor.

Like most companies born out of the vision, genius, and hard work of an individual, The New Holland Company outlived his founder. After his death, New Holland would become part of a series of purchases and mergers for the next decades. In 1947, it was sold to Sperry Corporation, which was renamed Sperry-New Holland. The New Holland part was sold later to Ford, who in turn sold a part of it to Fiat. Fiat later decided to buy the whole company, which still retains its name. In this process, New Holland tractors were the object of great developments in technology, becoming some of the most versatile and powerful tractors there are.

In fact, it is because of its long history and improvements from the best engineers in the world that the New Holland tractor is one of the most sought tractors. In addition to its power and applications, New Holland tractors benefit for the marketing advantages that only big companies can get, like authorized dealers pretty much anywhere. Also, owners of New Holland tractors get one of the best customer services in the market. All things considered, there’s nothing that New Holland tractors can’t do that the competition can do better.
