Perennial Flowering Vines
Natural sunlight and vegetation are still the best decorations for any building. They make us feel more at ease. In fact, most of us try to have some vegetation in our homes. Sometimes we plant gardens or flowerbeds, and sometimes we just add a small pot or vase with a plant or flower to our living rooms or workplaces to give them a natural touch.
When planting a garden, we sometimes don’t have much space to work with, or at least that’s what we think at first. If your garden is next to a wall, or fence, you should consider getting some perennial flowering vines.
Gardening flowers and plants are divided in two main categories; annuals and perennials. In the common use of the words, annuals are short living plants and perennials are long living plants. However, technically, annuals are plants that live only one year, while perennials are plants that live two or more years.
In addition, flowering vines are flowering plants that climb or trail other plants or objects. The climbing quality allows the plant to reach sunlight with a minimum investment of energy, which also allows it to grow better.
Perennial flowering vines combine these qualities to give you a plant that is low maintenance and that can decorate walls, fences, or other plants and still give you flowers. So, even if your garden is small, you can use perennial flowering vines to use the surface of fences or walls surrounding it. If you have trees, and the plants are compatible, you can also use perennial flowering vines to decorate them. And because perennial flowering vines live long, you won’t have to re-plant them every year.
There are several types of perennial flowering vines, and it all depends on your personal tastes. The most famous and common one by far is the Clematis, which comes in many colors, cultivars and varieties.
However, be aware of the weather conditions in your area so you buy perennial flowering vines that are compatible. It’s also a good idea to check the type of soil of your garden, as it might be too acid or too alkaline for your plants.
Finally, remember that surfaces that are too smooth are very difficult of perennial flowering vines to climb to. Therefore, it’s a good idea to add some nails or wires to the fences or walls you plan to use, so that the perennial flowering vines can attach to them and grow. It involves a bit more work, but it’ll be worth it in the end.
